Microsoft v/s Motorola: An Unending War of Claims!!

The fights are still on!

If you thought that Apple and Samsung are the only scene stealers in this particular genre, I have breaking news for you. Motorola Mobility has been accused of encroaching into Microsoft’s sector. A U.S. ITC (International Trade Commission) judge has ruled partially against Motorola which was acquired by Google sometime back.

Out of the seven patents which Microsoft suggested that were illegally used by Motorola to develop its android mobiles, the court has ruled against Moto on one of them and has been convinced that the other six were not breached.

The handsets under consideration were Motorola’s Droid x, Droid 2, Devour, Cliq XT and Backflip.
The chief concern was “meeting request generation and scheduling a group meet using a mobile” which Microsoft has set as its patent and Motorola was found breaching it.

Both the rivals seem to be pretty happy with the decision. Motorola spokesperson is satisfied because most of the decisions are in their favor.

A lot is still to happen between the two arch rivals with Microsoft accusing Motorola over the wireless networking royalty and the same with the video technology. Motorola on the other hand has claims for its patents against Microsoft’s products like Windows Mobile 7, Bing, Xbox gaming console etc.
Will they continue their fight or join hands in making something better??

GG’s rating of the story:  *** stars.
